The Mom Test
Rob Fitzpatrick
How to talk to customers and learn what they really need without asking questions that invite polite lies.
About this book
The Mom Test is a quick, easy handbook for learning more and selling more through your conversations with customers, even when the people you talk to aren't telling the truth. The book skips theory and frameworks and goes straight to hands-on problems, such as avoiding biased feedback, writing an email that gets people to talk to you, and telling whether someone will really buy. The author wrote it as the missing handbook on actually talking to customers, something he couldn't get from books on sales or Customer Development. The book grew out of workshop teaching and includes several activities that are easy to run.
